Darren Long

Hi, I'm Darren. My main responsibility is managing the entire production workflow and making sure all work is done to the highest creative and technical standards while ensuring timescales and budgets are adhered to.

After three years at college, and four years at university, I finally got a degree and decided it was about time to get my first proper job! I left university on the Friday and started out as a junior designer at a leading agency on the Monday, where I stayed for six years. It was a steep learning curve, and very different from my university days, but I was able to gain all the necessary skills needed to work in a fast-paced advertising agency.

I joined bda in 2005 as a designer and have seen the company grow from strength to strength. I now manage a team of six designers and five developers ensuring all the work that comes in gets done on time and goes out to a high standard. Being busy certainly makes the time disappear, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Outside of Work

My weekends and evenings seem to vanish, often with not a lot to show for them. Apart from the usual visiting friends and family members, I spend the majority of my time with my wife and son. We love taking him to the park, seeing the ducks and generally doing things as a family. We have recently got him a bike trailer, so it has been great taking him out at the weekends for long cycle rides. My main passion is sailing, something I've done since I was about five years old, when I was given my first sailing dinghy and taught to sail, its a perfect way to relax!

I love technology, it fascinates me! Saying that, I don't always understand how things work, but I really enjoy trying to find out. Whenever I get some free time, I really want to get back into drawing and painting. This is a past-time I have had since I was a child, and I find it really relaxing!
