Gareth D'Souza
Hi, I’m Gareth D’Souza, one of bda’s account executives. I work with Guy, running projects for our many clients.
My career began with a ‘milk and cookie’ role at a supermarket; it was called this because it entailed a dead-of-the-night 4am Saturday start. Being a typical teenager and lover of lie-ins, it set me up with a self-disciplined approach that still applies today.
But, naturally, the milk and cookies work was only a sideline to my studies. After excelling at maths, technology and business at school, I ventured to university where I gained a BA (Hons) in business and management.
I then travelled the east coast of Australia while working as a business development manager for large fashion retailer. Afterwards, back in the UK, I purposely moved my career in a marketing direction. I did so through account management and marketing specialist roles at, respectively, a corporate communications firm and a mobile phone giant.
This all led me to bda, where my organised approach, creativity and personality are essential. I’m pretty smart with the variety of clients too - and being a lover of technology, I get a buzz from projects that involve digital marketing and social media.
Outside of Work
Aside from bda, I keep that desire for being busy satisfied with goofy films (I’m a big Adam Sandler fan), entertaining my two young nieces with everything from doing messy arts and crafts to outside adventures, and the usual male football pursuits – watching, playing and occasional minor injuries.
Other interests
Not sure if I could define it as an ‘interest’, but I have quite a sweet tooth and have developed a fine line in pancakes topped with a special mix of chocolate and fruit – have to try and incorporate something healthy – especially when making the treat for my nieces.
Like many at bda I’m naturally inclined to follow and be a fan of the latest technology. A recent investment is an iPhone app that controls my television, which, while it’s been around for some time, I’ve only just discovered, so I’m rather pleased with myself. Such a find is one of the delights of technology – that the creator has really understood the user, making it feel like they had me in mind when they designed it.
This is particularly pleasing because after years of 4am weekend starts I’ve become fond of my Saturday lie-ins, complete with football TV programmes and chocolate pancakes.
