Georgina Johnson

I am Georgina - the 'bean counter' who looks after bda's accounts.

I have been working in accounts since the age of 17, having left agricultural college after studying a farm secretarial course. After that I continued my studies doing evening classes for three years, while working during the day. Once I gained my qualifications, I found I could put my knowledge to good use in the workplace. I enjoy my job as it is varied and interesting. I have worked for different industries, from a car accessories supplier, to a graphics design software company, where I got to travel to America and Denmark.

I have also worked in practices, where you are challenged to prepare accounts from all sorts of different packages, and ways of processing accounts, visiting different places and meeting new people. I have worked, pretty much, on every aspect of accounts, and get a sense of achievement when the figures all come together in an overall picture. In summary, I would say that I am an 'all rounder' who likes to think 'out of the box'.

I really enjoy working at bda, getting stuck in and working as a team to move the company forward. Everyone is really friendly, and helpful. There is always a 'buzz' of activity in the office, which makes an enjoyable working atmosphere.

Outside of Work

I am a mother of two girls, who are now getting to the stage of borrowing my shoes, coats, etc. However, it has its plus points, as I can now start borrowing my eldest daughter's shoes and clothes! We have two horses so spend a lot of time at the stables looking after them, and hacking out etc. It’s a past time we all love as a family, which is great!

Having grown up on a farm, I love the outdoors, especially walking. The children love it: it gives them a chance to have a run round, and I find it is as good for exercising the mind as well as the legs! I also play badminton for a local club, and play in two leagues, both in mixed doubles, and in ladies. It is especially good if you have had a bad day, and want to take it out on something!

Other interests

The only games console I have ever got into is my Wii! I love it! Especially the rhythm boxing on Wii cardio, you get into the 'game' so much, you don't even notice you're exercising. I also love Wii sports resort, the sword fights, (see a common theme here!). Reading is another favourite pastime, mostly drama mystery type books, Martina Cole, Karen Rose, Patricia Cornwell are my current favourite authors. I did however find it extremely hard to put down any of the books in the Twilight series! On top of all this, I also help with my partner's business. So life is pretty busy, but then that is what makes it interesting!
