Lee Williams
Howdy, I’m Lee, a designer here at bda.
I’ve been a designer for … wow … almost far too long. I absolutely love what I do and wouldn’t change it for the world. I really am one of those annoying people who love their job. Ever since I could scribble on paper this has been my chosen profession. I started out manipulating all that is vector and raster doing my degree at London Uni back in 2000, and from there have been designing for web and print ever since. I joined bda but before working with this bunch I worked mostly freelance for a number of high-profile clients.
Working with the creative design team here at bda is an absolute joy. It’s very fast-paced with a dozen pocket rocket ideas a minute. I’m forever pushing my creatives and learning new techniques; I simply adore to learn. Last year I tackled Flash and won, this year my new toy is After Effects – a simply awesome piece of software that I’m going to get stuck into, so watch this space for my After Effects demo reel! This obsession for creative over the years has resulted in me being a complete Apple-worshipping tech head, I love all that is tech and the fact that so many peeps here have iPhones and I don’t is driving me barmy.
Outside of Work
I hate to admit I am a slave to what I do, and generally spend a lot of my free time tinkering on my iMac. But when I stop working there is nothing I love more than spending time with my family, my beautiful wife and our children. I’m a big movie buff and a huge fan of roller blading, though I really don’t go enough. I also play the odd match of rugby when I get the chance, but with work really busy at the moment, free time is limited. My favourite place in the world so far is New York, I love it there and can’t wait to go back.
Other Interests
Always ranting about how Spiderman is the greatest super hero. Annoyingly say ‘dude’ far too much. Bit of a gamer too, which nicely fits with my tech-Apple boy demographic. Anything Halo is always good especially on Xbox live. I actually don’t think I could now live without the internet, I’m not a big social net fan, but absolutely love to use the ‘net to search for new design techniques. Lynda.com is the best woman on the ‘net.
Finally, cooking and gardening. Cooking has come from an obsession with desserts and my gran’s/mother’s fruit cake – from this I just love to cook. Gardening has come from a desire to just get away from the Mac at times and chill in the garden. Oh, and when it comes to a barbecue in the summer, I’m your man!
